Beginnings of a change????

I once had almost every news channel on satellite, but then, in February 2022, the EU demanded that all EU-based satellites remove the Russian news channels. Still, I could get Qatar, Iran, and the PRC. Until 12 December 2022, when the EU denounced all non-EU/US news and said all must be banned.

I get a few news channels now, the ones fully approved by the government where I live, the government that provides all telephone and TV services. So, for reasons that escape me, I get BBC, CNN, Euronews, I24, and France24 for free (plus the local news channel, which is only local news). Nothing from Qatar or Iran, and only the PRC Arabic channel (I get all the other channels in Arabic, but I only understand English, so I'd say I don't get PRC, and that's almost but not quite true).

The biggest change is CNN. Last week, they had a report from Ghaza, their first. Before, all their news was the official Israel/US news from the US/Israeli spokespersons: every Palestinian is a rabid Antisemite who wants to kill every Jew in Palestine, so Israel is strictly acting in self-defence, and every civilian death was because a Hamas military unit held some civilian human shields captive as they tried their best to kill Jews, and when the Israeli Occupation Force (IOF) returned fire, all those civilian deaths were entirely the fault of Hamas.

But then CNN was granted access to the UAE Field Hospital in Ghaza for the very first time, their first time in the Ghaza since 7 October, and CNN saw nothing but injured children (the UAE prioritises children). The UAE Field Hospital only has about 100 beds, while every other hospital in the Ghaza has been bombed. In many hospitals, all the staff were arrested as agents supporting the Hamas Antisemites in their goal of killing Jews. Israel say that every hospital in the Ghaza, except the UAE Field Hospital, is not a hospital but a Hamas military base disguised as a hospital, so a legitimate military target, and the US say they have verified that the Israeli statement is strictly factual.

CNN now say that the UAE Field Hospital is treating lots of children with war wounds, and is getting more children from other hospitals that are overcrowded, badly damaged, and without any medical supplies. The CNN reporter had a hard time blaming all the children, badly injured by Israeli bombs supplied by the US, on Hamas.

I was shocked, since before last week CNN just parroted the official US/Israeli line.

Driving through Ghaza to and from the hospital, CNN saw the massive damage: almost every building in the Ghaza destroyed, totally unsuitable for anyone to live in. The CNN reporter sounded totally shocked by what she saw, and she no longer seems to accept the official Israeli/US version.

I can also get Fox if I pay for it, and Fox remains with the official line: Hamas are all terrorist Antisemitic Nazis who intend to kill every Jew in Palestine, the line repeated by both Israel and the US; 7 October was a day when Hamas brutally murdered 1,200 innocent Jews who posed no threat, raping and murdering many women and children, beheading many children and burning many children in the ovens in their homes while their parents had to listen to them scream.

Of course, the Grayzone have ample evidence that the official US/Israeli version is completely false.

CNN have now stopped reiterating the official US/Israeli version. They haven't quite gone as far as to broadcast the Grayzone version, but at least they admit that Israel are bombing civilians and killing many children, and have destroyed just about every home in Ghaza leaving the Philistines in the Ghaza with nowhere to live. At least it's a start.
